Zeta Could Make Landfall as Category 1 Hurricane Wednesday

The Gulf Coast can't seem to catch a break as Zeta is expected to reach hurricane status in the next several hours. The central Gulf Coast should be on the lookout, again.

As south Louisiana continues to dig out from Hurricanes Laura and Delta, Zeta will approach the Gulf Coast on Wednesday at a Category 1 hurricane or a strong tropical storm.

Zeta built up steam overnight and is now a 70 mph storm. Strengthening is expected today. She will meet conditions that will provide excellent conditions for strengthening today.

As Zeta moves across the Yucatan Peninsula tonight, there may be some weakening over land. However, after passing over the Yucatan Peninsula, the storm will regain hurricane strength.

Computer models have Zeta striking the central Gulf Coast Wednesday morning. Everyone from central Louisiana to southern Mississippi should be prepared.

Currently, tropical-storm-force winds extend outward over 100 miles from the center of Zeta. Pressure has fallen to 990mb. Zeta is moving northwestward at about 9 mph.
