When it comes to rock bands with local connections, it is IMPOSSIBLE to have that conversation without mentioning Pantera. A lot of the band's major milestones took place right here in Shreveport at Circle in the Square. This is where the band hooked up with Phil Anselmo. Phil played his first ever gig with Vinnie, Dimebag, and the boys here. The history is rich and deep. And now, for the first time ever, we are going to get the full story straight from Phil when he releases his new autobiography called 'Mouth For War: Pantera and Beyond'.

Phil's new book will hit stores January 13th, 2015. And according to the pre order page on Amazon, the book will tell the rise and fall of the hardest band to ever hit the planet.

In this brutally honest, no-holds-barred memoir, Philip Anselmo, former frontman of the legendary metal band Pantera, finally tells his side of the story—on everything from the band’s meteoric rise to the murder of guitarist Darrell Abbott onstage.

From bar band obscurity to the bright spotlight of the world’s stage, Anselmo helped lead Pantera to world domination. He soared to the top with the first extreme metal album to debut at #1 on the Billboard music charts with Far Beyond Driven in 1994. He turned a bar-bumping glam metal band into the heaviest, most extreme, and most successful heavy metal unit since Metallica.

The book will delve deep into the history of the band, Phil's legendary struggle with drugs, the death of Dimebag, and everything in between. And knowing Phil the way I do, it is going to be as honest, hard hitting, and brutal as possible. I know I'm looking forward to it.

To hold us over till we can get our hands on the book, here is my interview with Phil from last year where he touched on some of the subjects in the book.
