Anyone who's older than 13 years old and has ever watched professional wrestling knows the matches and storylines are scripted.

It's like a live-action soap opera and that's what interests a lot of people.

However, there is a lot the public doesn't see, and this ESPN E:60 documentary went behind the curtain with the WWE to show what really happens.

This makes it clear that even though the outcomes are scripted, these people are athletes and the moves performed can still hurt.

Not only that, but the time away from their families, constant exercise and the threat of losing their job is always there for these wrestlers.

This just goes to show that professional wrestling is a lot different and a lot harder than we think.

ESPN's one-hour E:60 Pictures' WWE: Behind The Curtain documentary premieres May 5.
