If you've got to cross over the river between Shreveport and Bossier City tonight, and your route involves the Texas Street Bridge - you might want to find an alternate route.  Tonight at 10pm, the Louisiana Department of Transportation will begin its rehab project.

According to KSLA, both eastbound lanes will be closed for about five months to kick off this year-long project.  The $15 million project will extend the life of the Shreveport skyline mainstay (built in the 1930s) by repairing or replacing parts of the deck, joints, the steel structure itself and smoothing out the roadway approaches.

No official detours or alternate routes have been announced, but if your daily commute takes you through this area - you might be in for a few travel headaches in the very near future.  These headaches could be significant as the  LaDOTD says 12,000 vehicles cross the bridge every day.
