With May being Military Appreciation Month and significant military pension changes having taken effect last year, the personal-finance website WalletHub has released its report on 2019's Best and Worst States for Military Retirees.

And where does our own state of Louisiana, with so many of Barksdale Air Force Base retirees choosing to stay in the Shreveport - Bossier area - rank on the list? The Pelican State comes in at a very flattering 19th on the list of 51 (Including the District of Columbia).

WalletHub's metrics include economic environment, quality of life and healthcare, specifically the quality of local VA hospitals.
